KEYSTONE LEAGUE:
Kiski area is a member of a 28 team junior wrestling league called the Keystone League or "Keystones". Over the course of a season, your wrestlers will have the opportunity to compete in a total of 6 regular season matches. The regular season schedule typically runs from the beginning of December to the end of January, followed by the "Year-End Tournament" which is held after the regular season ends - typically these will occur the first two weeks of February.

All matches are held on either a Saturday or Sunday. Each week a different team with-in the league will host a match. Upon arriving at match, please ENSURE that you check-in your child at the check-in table with a Kiski Area representative.Check-In and warming-up will be followed by a skin & nail check, then wrestling will begin.
SO we are here now, How does it work?
Each wrestler will be paired by the coaches according to age, weight, yrs. experience, and skill-level. Each wrestler will wrestle a minimum of TWO matches. Every effort is made by the pairing committee to match the kids as close as possible in the "4" above qualifications. This league / regular season is a "Developmental League" and therefor trophies, medals, ribbons will NOT be awarded during the regular season matches. These are for practicing and learning what areas need work the most. However, the results of each match your child wrestles during the regular season is recorded for the "Year-End Tournament". The league will use these records to help seed the kids later for the tournament.
**To qualify for the year-end tournament, your child must wrestle in AT LEAST 4 of the 6 regular season matches**
Trophies will be awarded to the Top 4 finishers in each age / weight group. There will be a parade of champions prior to their finals match!!
- Typical Regular Match admission fees will be: Adults - $4.00, Students -$2.00 and Free for students.
- Typical "Year-End Tournament" admission fees will be: Adults - $5.00, Students - $3.00, Wrestlers & Kids 5yrs & under will be Free.
Skill Level Ratings (*=Star Rating):
- 0*… 1st year or non-aggressive experienced wrestler
- 1*… An average wrestler for their years of experience
- 2*… Aggressive above average for years of experience
- 3*… 1st or 2nd Tournament place winner in last season’s Keystone
- 4*…1st at Tournament
- 5*…Place winner in last season’s State Tournament
- *Note: The star rating for every wrestler must be updated yearly according to last season’s Keystone, Area, and All-Area Tournament results.
- *Note: All 2* wrestlers are eligible to be paired with 3* and 4* wrestlers.
